What We Do

We're driven to build a more equitable and just food system. And it happens by collaborating with local organizations and volunteers.

We operate on the principles of mutual aid and solidarity.

We recognize that systemic barriers such as: food waste, climate change, unsustainable food systems, and inflation are all key contributors to the persistence of food apartheid and poverty in our communities, which disproportionately affects QTBIPOC and low-income individuals.

To address these root causes, we collaborate with local organizations and volunteers to build a more equitable and just food system.

Fridge and Pantry Network

We build and operate a network of Free Community Fridges and Pantries, open to anyone who needs it. No appointment or paperwork required.

  • Fresh produce, frozen goods, and ready-made meals are made available in our Community Fridges.

  • Shelf stable goods, hygiene products, and baby products are made available in our Community Pantries.

Anyone can donate food or supplies, and we encourage it! Please read our FAQ on How to Donate to a Fridge before preparing or donating food for the Fridge.

Garden Program

Our community garden, located in Orlando's historically underserved Parramore district, is designed to provide our neighbors with locally-grown produce and herbs, which is difficult to obtain in communities experiencing food apartheid.

  • Local garden produce does not need to be shipped to its destination, which means it's nutrients can be enjoyed before they deteriorate on long journeys.

  • Communities gardens create a means of food production emancipated from corporate food networks, which don't price or supply fresh food with local communities in mind.

Food Distribution

Our organization prepares and distributes food, water, hygeine kits, and other necessities to those in need on a bi-weekly basis. Our volunteers are familiar with food prep safety.

  • Nutritious meals and beverages are prepared day-of with fresh ingredients, free to anyone who wants one.

  • Pre-prepared hygiene kits are given away with our unhoused community in mind.

  • Distributions are adapted to the season. Hot meals, hot beverages, and warm clothing is available during winter. Cold water is a priority in the warm months.

Food Rescue

Local businesses donate unsold surplus to us, to help keep our fridges and pantries stocked. Individual volunteers contribute their time and skills to transfer perfectly good produce and meals to our fridge hubs, where they can be accessed by our community.

  • Food rescued from these businesses would otherwise be disposed of, exacerbating existing issues of food waste, overflowing landfills, and food apartheid.

  • Rescued meals are typically prepared the same day, but can't be sold past a certain date due to company policy. We're committed to making this food accessible to people who otherwise couldn't access it.

Food Distribution

We partner with Las Semillas to hand out fresh produce, groceries, reproductive health and baby supplies, and other necessities to the community members of the Royal Pine Apartment Complex in the Pine Hills district.

  • This neighborhood is made up of people experiencing food apartheid through a number of factors: prices are too high, groceries are too far away, mobility disabilities, and so on.

  • We distribute here directly to bridge the gap between them and life sustaining resources.
